The Archive

History built from evidence.

Rigg’s research began with a question buried inside Nazi racial law: how did men of Jewish descent serve in Hitler’s Wehrmacht? The answer took him into German military archives, hundreds of interviews, thousands of documents and a body of work that challenged simplified accounts of the Third Reich.

His scholarship later expanded into Imperial Japan, Iwo Jima, Holocaust rescue, military valor, faith, learning disabilities and resilience. The Bryan Mark Rigg oral-history collection includes nearly 800 hours of interviews.
